ESL Writing Writing prompts are great ways to get students started writing. Sometimes it is hard for students to come up with their own ideas to write about. By giving them a prompt, you can give them a foundation for the start of a great story. I designed the following writing prompt to be utilized in a 3rd-6th grade classroom depending on the students' proficiency level.
